Tourism Infrastructure Development

SKIL’s vision is to bring tourism-led infrastructure development to the tourism rich states of India. The goal is to provide safe, secure, enjoyable, hassle-free world class tourism destinations to both domestic and international tourists. Development in each region will also focus on economic growth linked to the local horticulture, floriculture and agriculture.
Tourism is one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries. It is also one of the important sectors of the Indian economy, with great potential for income generation and employment.
India has been ranked as one of the fastest growing travel and tourism economies in the world. This industry is the fastest growing foreign exchange earner in India and stands high in terms of income generation. As per World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) statistics, tourism in India is poised to grow at a rate of 8% per annum till 2016.
The Indian travel and tourism industry is currently experiencing a boom. After growing by 22% in 2004, the number of incoming arrivals rose by a hefty 31% in 2005.  The incoming tourism receipts touched US $ 4.8 bn during 2004 and it rose by a further 20 % to touch US $ 5.7 bn in 2005, and are expected to touch US $ 9.7 bn in 2006. Over the next ten years, India’s travel and tourism industry is expected to achieve annualized real growth of 8.6% in total travel and tourism demand to US $ 128 billion in 2016. The industry is headed north powered by fundamental factors, which underpin a strong case for investment.
Himachal Pradesh – The Most Sought After Tourist Destination

Few places in the world are as richly endowed as Himachal Pradesh. Low rolling hills, just a couple of hundred meters above sea level, climb to touch the core of the Himalayan Mountains. Here lie peaks that are several thousand meters high and never lose their perennial snows. Rivers in deep gorges and placid mountain lakes, thick forests and the splendid heights of the Himalayan ranges, with its great scenic beauty and aura of spiritual calm seem the natural home of the Gods. SKIL proposes to develop Tourism-led Infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh. This is one of the largest comprehensive infrastructure initiatives in the state.

The development of each site is being planned & finalized after studying various factors viz. geographical conditions, soil, terrain, development in vicinity, proximity to major commercial centers, connectivity, etc. These sites will be developed in project-specific SPV’s. However, considering the synergies between all these sites and since these projects are complementing each other for economic sustainability, the development activity at the sites is planned simultaneously.
